From now until the take-off of "The Flight for the Human Spirit" in April, every single flight counts. In this episode Michael gives an update on the progress of the flight and discusses how over a half million people will have automatic updates on the progress of the flight, but also gives a hint about the additional equipment that will soon be installed in Hope One. The biggest question was in regard to the climbing performance of the aircraft. We know that the Remos climbs well at 2,000 feet...but how well does it climb at 9,000 feet? Is there a difference? Is there enough power to carry Michael over mountainous terrain? Let's listen and find out together!

Michael and Michele record this podcast from the cockpit of Hope One as they fly over the Mississippi River at an altitude of 5,500 feet above sea level. This is a collector's edition podcast as it captures Michael's first of what will soon be many cross country flights as he strives to gain both knowledge and experience for the upcoming historic journey next spring. As they travel to exhibit Hope One at the AOPA Summit meetings in Tampa, FL...the number one question that everyone wants to know is: "How does Michele like flying?" We'll find out in this podcast!

Episode 23 - Life as a Pilot

He has his wings...now what? With the take-off of this historic flight almost five months away, what steps need to be taken to assure that 20 million lives will be touched? In this episode Michael discusses the events over the past two weeks including meeting with the Salina Airport Authority as well as preparing for his first long distance cross country trip. This flight will test communications with mission control as well as the on-board technology. Also accuracy timing between points will be highlighted. The biggest question is, "What does Michele think of flying?"

Episode 16 - "Hope One" is Unveiled to the World

The aircraft that I'll be flying in "The Flight for the Human Spirit" mission is called "Hope One". It is a 2009 Remos GX and is beautiful in every way. It is equipped with the latest in electronic monitoring systems, communications equipment, and even has weather forecasting capabilities. It has a ballistic parachute that can safely bring the entire aircraft to the ground, and is made of carbon fiber material. Also I soloed last Thursday, and again on Friday...so this has been quite a week in many, many ways.
